Goat Websites

In addition to having great goat supplies, both Hoegger Supply Co. and Caprine Supply are fantastic resources for goat information and care. I have ordered items from both companies and was very pleased with their products.

Sunnydale Farm is a Nigerian Dwarf hobby farm located in Woodstock, CT and owned by my friend and goat mentor, Lorene. She's got a nice herd, and I am very happy with the several goats I have purchased from her.

Bonnie of Fairlea Farm in Harvard, Mass has beautiful goats, like my three newest girls, Sunny, Devon, and Brannagh. Thanks, Bonnie!

American Goat Society is a general club for goat owners and breeders. They have shows that include Nigerian Dwarfs.

In 2005 the American Dairy Goat Association expanded registration to include Nigerian Dwarfs. Hurray for more recognition for this great little breed!

New England Nigerian Dwarf Association is our local breed club. The website is a great resource for finding the local shows, and members have all be very friendly and helpful. All members are welcome at the annual meeting in November, and I encourage you to join us! It's a fun potluck with lots of "goat talk".

Barnyard Bird Websites

See the "Around the Farmyard" page for links to helpful bird sites.

Miniature Horse Websites

There are two main breed registries for miniature horses, American Miniature Horse Association and American Miniature Horse Registry. I've been told that while both are valid registries, AMHA is the more popular (around here at least) because the requirements for registration are more strict and this is the club that sanctions most of the shows local to our area.

New England Miniature Horse Society is a scantioned club for mini enthusiasts living in AMHA's Region 1. When I first got my minis, I went to one of their meetings looking for advice and references for farriers, vets, etc. They were very helpful and welcoming.

Other Farm Related Websites

Need a barn? We had a great experience with Kloter Farms. Ordering was easy, and about a month after putting a deposit down and getting our permits from town hall, our completed barn arrived on the back of a big truck! A good solution for a little hobby farm like us!

Portable electric fences from Premier One have been GREAT for moving all of our critters through the different areas they can graze. Early spring we set one up right off the main pasture to let the horses gradually adjust to being back on lush grass (the llamas loved it, too!). Throughout the summer, both to cut down on mowing and give the ladies a change of scenery, we rotate the goats to different pasture spots. It's super easy to set up, just push the spiked poles into the ground and the netting is already attached. They have good instructions on their website. Goat kids will run through the mesh, but once they get bigger even my Houdini Goats can't get out!

Save a Life, Rescue a Best Friend

When searching for a puppy, we found lots of dogs on Petfinder that were looking for homes. We love big dogs, so we were excited to find Great Danes Around New England Rescue. In the end, we went to look at two puppies and couldn't choose between the two, so we brought them both home! Our Molly girl was adopted through Next Stop Forever. Danny came to us from Texas in a joint effort by Mutts4Rescue and L.A.B. Rescue. We discovered that so many of the dogs listed in our area were actually located down South, and we were nervous about adopting a pup from so far away... it went so smoothly, I don't know what I was worried about! A true success story, thanks to all involved!
